32nd ABU Intellectual Property & Legal Committee (IPLC)

Theme: "AI, Copyright & Royalties in the Digital Content Economy"
As broadcasting rapidly evolves across digital and streaming platforms, protecting content has become one of the industry’s most pressing challenges. From piracy and unauthorised redistribution to the growing influence of digital platforms, broadcasters are navigating an increasingly complex rights landscape. This event explores the critical issues surrounding content protection, enforcement strategies, and the future of intellectual property rights in the digital age, while examining how the industry can safeguard creativity, revenue, and the value of original broadcast content.
Networking & Social Programme: To encourage networking and strengthen professional connections among IPLC members, the ABU Secretariat is exploring the possibility of organizing a half-day excursion or other social activities following the meeting on 23 July 2026, in coordination with the IPLC Chairperson and the host. As opportunities for members from across the region to meet in person are relatively rare, delegates are encouraged to plan their departure on 24 July 2026, where possible. Participation in these activities is entirely optional, and all associated costs, including meals, transportation, and other personal expenses, will be borne by the participating delegates.

IPLC Meeting: 23 July 2026 (9.30 AM – 12.30 PM) [Open only to Full, Additional Full, and Associate Members]
