SUMMARY:10th ABU Media Summit on Climate Action and Disaster Prevention
DESCRIPTION:« All Events\n \n \n \n \n \n	ABU AI Forum 2026 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The second edition of the ABU AI Forum will be held in conjunction with the 10th ABU Media Summit on Climate Action and Disaster Prevention (CADP 2026) with the focus on use of AI for Resilient Broadcasting and Emergency Response. The forum will explore how emerging technologies can strengthen the role of media in protecting lives and supporting communities in times of crisis. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Building on the principles of the Media Saving Lives movement\, the discussions will highlight the responsibility of broadcasters to ensure that timely\, reliable\, and actionable information reaches the public before\, during\, and after disasters. As climate-related emergencies become more frequent across the Asia-Pacific region\, media organisations play a critical role in supporting early warning systems\, raising awareness\, and helping communities prepare for and respond to risks. Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers new opportunities for broadcasters in this context. AI tools can support real-time monitoring of climate events\, faster information verification\, multilingual alerts\, data-driven risk mapping\, and automated distribution of emergency messages across multiple platforms to directly contribute to saving human lives. At the same time\, the forum will address the challenges associated with AI\, including potential bias\, misinformation risks\, and the need for responsible and transparent use of technology\, particularly when communicating critical information during emergencies. In this context\, the importance of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) becomes even more critical. By combining responsible AI use with stronger MIL practices\, broadcasters can ensure that technology enhances – not undermines – the credibility\, reliability\, and public value of information shared during climate-related emergencies. The forum will place a strong emphasis on innovation and forward-looking solutions\, with discussions focused on two key areas: AI in Broadcast Operations AI-assisted newsroom workflowsAutomated content production and localisationAI in archive management and metadata taggingAI for audience engagement and personalisationEthical considerations and governance of AI in public mediaAI for Natural Emergencies & Climate Action AI-driven early warning systemsPredictive analytics for disaster risk assessmentSatellite and geospatial AI applicationsAI-powered factchecking during crisis situationsReal-time multilingual emergency alertsSupporting both climate change adaptation and mitigation actions \n \n \n \n The programme will feature a dynamic mix of panel discussions\, masterclasses\, and expert exchanges\, offering participants valuable opportunities to share experiences\, explore practical applications\, and examine policy and governance considerations surrounding the use of AI in broadcasting. The forum will also explicitly connect AI innovation to ABU’s “Media Saving Lives” framework\, highlighting how emerging technologies can enhance: Speed of responseAccuracy of informationReach to vulnerable communitiesTrust in public media \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n	Categories:	\n Secretary-General Department	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n \n\n	\n	Add to calendar	\n \n	\n\n \n \n \n	Google Calendar\n\n \n	iCalendar\n\n \n	Outlook 365\n\n \n	Outlook Live\n\n \n \n\n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Accommodation\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Programme\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	Date & Time:	\n June 16\, 2026\n\n \n	\n - \n\n	June 18\, 2026\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n HOST: \n \n \n \n Bhutan Broadcasting Service Corporation Limited (BBSCL) \n \n \n \n CONTACT: \n \n \n \n \n	\n	Nargiza Numanova\n	\n	\n \n nargiza@abu.org.my \n \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n For logistics and visa matters\, contact\n\ncadp@abu.org.my \n \n \n \n Accommodation & Visa: (information will be updated soon) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	The Dungkar Dzong in Pangbisa\n	\n	\n\n8FH2+WV\, Paro\, Bhutan\n	\n\n\n\n	Bhutan\n\n\n\n\n	+ Google Map \n\n\n	\n	View Venue Website \n\n\n\n	\n\n\n\n \n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n \n\n Pacific Media Partnership Conference 2026	\n\n\n \n	\n ABU Con-Fest 2026
