MEET THE SPEAKERS
Mohamed Badr Taddist
EBU / Security4Media, C2PA Project Manager
Badr is a C2PA Project Manager at EBU Technology & Innovation, working at the intersection of cybersecurity, media integrity, and content provenance. With a master’s degree from EPFL and ETH Zurich, he brings both technical and research expertise to the challenge of securing trust in digital media.
His work focuses on the secure and practical adoption of C2PA across news and broadcasting workflows. At the EBU, he coordinates and implements concrete C2PA projects, contributes to technical development efforts including the C2PA open-source SDK, and supports industry-facing pilots such as IBC demonstrations. He is also involved in Security4Media, where he contributes as both a project coordinator and technical implementer, helping advance secure, privacy-aware deployment of provenance technologies in the media sector.
Brendan Quinn
Managing Director, IPTC
Brendan Quinn is a media technology expert and the Managing Director of the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC). With over two decades of experience in media innovation, he has led major projects including the development of the Associated Press’s APVideoHub.com syndication platform, the re-architecture of the BBC’s digital infrastructure, and the implementation of advanced content management systems at the BBC and at Fairfax Media in Australia. His work at IPTC reflects a deep commitment to advancing the global standards and technology frameworks that power the modern media industry, with a particular focus on trust and authenticity.
Kenneth Warmuth
Media Engineer and Technical Project Manager, @WDR/ARD
Kenneth studied Media Technology at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK) and later earned a Master of Science in Media Technology from the Technical University of Ilmenau. In his first years he worked as a trainee in media technology and engineering at Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), where he contributed to different innovative projects. Since October 2023, he has been working as a media engineer in program distribution at ARD’s Competence Center for Audio and Video Streaming and became technical project manager for C2PA at ARD. Kenneth is passionate about innovative media technologies and their potential to transform broadcasting and production.
Martin Grohme
Streaming Architect and Project Engineer, @WDR/ARD
Martin studied Photo Engineering with a focus on Media Technology at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. After graduating, he co-founded meta-fusion GmbH, specializing in the streaming and archiving of large conferences. From 2005 he worked at G&L Systemhaus, ultimately as Head of Innovation, developing Live2VOD recording and broadcast-grade livestreaming systems for public broadcasters and FIFA. At Haivision, he worked as a streaming architect, migrating products for cloud deployment. Since 2023, he has been a project engineer at WDR’s Competence Center for Audio and Video, where he contributes to the central live and video-on-demand origin platform and the evaluation and pilot implementation of C2PA for video-on-demand.
Laura Ellis
Technologist and Journalist, BBC Research & Development
Laura Ellis is a technologist and journalist with a focus on disinformation, data, AI and emerging technology. She has led a number of multimedia news teams, delivered a range of innovation, and guided newsrooms through significant technology change. In her current role with BBC Research & Development, she takes a particular interest in ethics, personalised and automated journalism, generative AI and media provenance.
Judy Parnall
Principal R&D, BBC Research & Development
Judy Parnall is a passionate advocate of all things media and its positive power for audiences.
A Principal R&D in the BBC Research & Development’s Advisory team, Judy coordinates on the strategy for the influencing industry and government for media technology innovation, including the BBC’s input to standards and industry bodies across production, broadcast and other media spheres. She also looks at the impact of emerging technology on the media industry.
Judy has worked in the BBC for a number of years in both R&D and the corporate strategy areas. Her research interests have centred on the interaction of people with technology and services across all media. She is particularly interested in techniques to increase trust in news across the globe.
Judy sits on the Steering Board of the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity and leads the education and advocacy work in the IPTC Media Provenance Working Group. She chaired the EBU’s Technical Committee between 2018 and 2022. She won the Leadership Award in TVNewsCheck’s Women in Technology awards, 2022.
