ABU AI Forum 2026

The second edition of the ABU AI Forum will be held in conjunction with the CADP2026. Under the theme “Intelligent Media – AI for Resilient Broadcasting and Emergency Respons”, this forum will focus on innovative technologies to enhance broadcasting capabilities, strengthen media resilience, and support effective communication during climate related and natural emergencies.

The forum will place a strong emphasis on innovation and forward-looking solutions, with discussions focused on two key areas:

AI in Broadcast Operations

  • AI-assisted newsroom workflows
  • Automated content production and localisation
  • AI in archive management and metadata tagging
  • AI for audience engagement and personalisation
  • Ethical considerations and governance of AI in public media

AI for Natural Emergencies & Climate Action

  • AI-driven early warning systems
  • Predictive analytics for disaster risk assessment
  • Satellite and geospatial AI applications
  • AI-powered factchecking during crisis situations
  • Real-time multilingual emergency alerts
  • Supporting both climate change adaptation and mitigation actions

The programme will feature a dynamic mix of panel discussions, masterclasses, and expert exchanges, offering participants valuable opportunities to share experiences, explore practical applications, and examine policy and governance considerations surrounding the use of AI in broadcasting.

The forum will also explicitly connect AI innovation to ABU’s “Media Saving Lives” framework, highlighting how emerging technologies can enhance:

  • Speed of response
  • Accuracy of information
  • Reach to vulnerable communities
  • Trust in public media
