SUMMARY:63rd ABU General Assembly & Associated Meetings
DESCRIPTION:« All Events\n \n \n \n \n \n	63rd ABU General Assembly & Associated Meetings \n \n \n \n The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union is pleased to announce that the 63rd ABU General Assembly and Associated Meetings will be held from 30 October to 3 November 2026 in Colombo\, Sri Lanka\, hosted by MTV Sri Lanka. Taking place in one of South Asia’s most vibrant cultural and media hubs\, GA2026 will bring together ABU members\, partners\, industry leaders\, and stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond for high-level discussions\, knowledge-sharing\, networking\, and cooperation. The event will be held at Cinnamon Life\, City of Dreams\, Colombo\, a landmark venue that reflects Sri Lanka’s dynamic spirit\, warm hospitality\, and growing role as a regional destination for international events. \n \n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n Under the theme “Media for Peace and Humanity: Truth\, Trust\, and Transformation\,” GA2026 will highlight the essential role of media in a time of global uncertainty\, social change\, conflict\, misinformation\, and rapid technological development. The theme reflects the responsibility of broadcasters and media organisations to uphold truth\, strengthen public trust\, promote dialogue\, and contribute to peace\, understanding\, and human-centred transformation. At a time when societies face increasing divisions\, instability\, disasters\, and technological disruption\, the media’s role is more important than ever. Media organisations are not only providers of information; they are bridges between communities\, cultures\, institutions\, and people. They have the power to inform responsibly\, connect societies\, give voice to the vulnerable\, and support understanding where trust is fragile. Through its meetings\, sessions\, and associated events\, the 63rd ABU General Assembly will provide an important platform for members to discuss shared priorities\, shape the future direction of the Union\, and strengthen cooperation in serving audiences and communities across the region. GA2026 will also offer a valuable opportunity for networking\, partnership-building\, and meaningful exchange among ABU members: broadcasters\, media professionals\, decision-makers\, and industry players who share a common commitment to using media in the service of people. \n \n \n \n THE OFFICIAL GA2026 LOGO \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The official logo of the 63rd ABU General Assembly and Associated Meetings invites us to reflect on the unity of four powerful symbols of Sri Lanka’s civilisation\, heritage\, imagination\, and connection. At its centre is Sigiriya\, the Lion Rock\, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks. Remembered in ancient lore as the abode of the Great King Ravana\, Sigiriya symbolises vision\, courage\, and the bold ingenuity required to turn imagination into reality. Surrounding Sigiriya is the Sakwala Chakraya\, the mysterious “Stargate” found in Sri Lanka’s ancient capital of Anuradhapura. In the GA2026 logo\, it is reimagined as a window to the future\, linking the wisdom of the past with the possibilities of what is yet to come. Embracing the central motif is the Ves Thattuwa\, the iconic headdress of the Kandyan dancer. It represents the energy of Sri Lanka’s living culture and the pursuit of excellence. Traditionally worn only after mastery has been achieved\, the Ves Thattuwa reminds us of the discipline\, dedication\, and commitment required to reach the highest standards. Completing the design are two forms of waves. One reflects Sri Lanka’s philosophy of sustainability through its ancient hydraulic heritage\, the wewa system — a remarkable man-made water management system\, built thousands of years ago and still serving communities today. The other wave represents the Sea of Sri Lanka\, the waters that define the island\, protected its shores\, and connected it with the world for millennia. Together\, these elements form a symbol of unity\, excellence\, imagination\, and shared progress. The GA2026 logo celebrates Sri Lanka’s enduring heritage while reflecting its commitment to shaping a common future through media\, culture\, and connection As members gather in Colombo\, GA2026 will be more than a meeting of broadcasters. It will be a call to reaffirm media’s responsibility to humanity\, peace\, and public service. It will encourage members to strengthen networks\, build trust\, exchange ideas\, and work together in favour of people — ensuring that media continues to inform\, connect\, protect\, and inspire communities across the Asia-Pacific and beyond.
