In this context\, traditional media plays a vital role in delivering reliable information\, supporting early warning systems\, and helping communities strengthen their resilience. At the same time\, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the broadcasting industry\, creating new opportunities for innovation in newsroom operations\, content delivery\, and emergency communication\, while also raising concerns related to bias\, misinformation\, and responsible use. \nUnder the theme “From Awareness to Action: Intelligent Media for Climate Resilience and Safer Future\,” the summit will focus not only on the challenges but also on practical solutions and the shared responsibility we carry for the planet and people. It will highlight the important role of media in raising public awareness\, supporting preparedness\, and promoting informed action on climate and disaster risks. \nSince 2014\, the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) has organised the 2026CADP to equip broadcasters with the knowledge\, tools\, and partnerships needed to respond effectively to climate and disaster challenges. \nThe 2026 edition\, hosted by Bhutan Broadcasting Service Corporation Limited (BBSCL) in Paro\, Bhutan\, will bring together media leaders\, climate and disaster response authorities\, scientists\, and civil society to strengthen collaboration and accelerate action for resilience. \nThe event will emphasise the broader role of media in public education and capacity building for disaster prevention\, preparedness\, and response ensuring that audiences understand risks and know how to respond effectively. \nIn this context\, the ABU will also highlight its ongoing collaboration with UNESCO on the Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan (DPRP) Model for Media\, which provides a practical framework for media organisations to institutionalise preparedness and strengthen their capacity to report and operate effectively before\, during\, and after disasters. Through this initiative\, broadcasters are encouraged to develop structured editorial and operational plans that enhance coordination with emergency authorities\, improve information flows\, and support communities during crises. \nThe Summit will focus on two main areas: \nMedia for Climate Action & Disaster Risk Prevention \n\nClimate change reporting and science-based journalism\nProactive disaster preparedness and response communication\nMulti-hazard early warning systems\nCombating climate misinformation\nInclusive disaster risk reduction communication\n\nAI for Broadcasting & Natural Emergencies \n\nAI-powered newsroom workflows\nAutomated content production and localisation\nAI-driven early warning systems\nPredictive analytics for disaster risk assessment\nAI-supported fact-checking and multilingual emergency alerts\n \n \n \n \n Adding to the significance of the event\, the Gala of the ABU Together for People\, Planet\, Peace (T4P) Media Awards will take place on 17 June 2026.
