Joao Botelho has spent +20 years on the buying side. As interim Chief Procurement Officer at Euronews, he saved 30% of cost in broadcasting, production and IT. He also built the procurement operation for the network’s expansion into Kazakhstan – from the zero. Before that, he ran a 7500M annual procurement programme at Portugal’s national energy grid. He currently advises the European Broadcasting Union on its procurement transformation and serves as President of APCADEC, Portugal’s national procurement association. He has worked with broadcasters in Western Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. His sessions are known for being direct, case-based, and light on theory. He teaches what works in organisations where procurement is not yet a priority — which is most of them.
