ABU Children’s Drama Co-Production 22nd Series
Now in its 22nd year, this co-production allows the participating organizations through its producers/ directors that participated in this co-production to produce children's stories that are attractive to even those who live in various countries, as well as being exposed to the standard of international production.

How ABU Children's Drama Co-Production works:
First Meeting – Producers and directors of children’s drama from the previous series, share and exchange their completed works freely among participating organizations. New producers for the next series present their story ideas for collaborative input. The 22nd Series meeting will take place in Tokyo, Japan.
Second Meeting – A continuation of the first meeting, participating producers will present their updated story ideas with the executive producer as well as view and obtain children’s dramas from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) at rights-free.
Screening – Producers and directors will be screening their revised and produced children’s drama to other participants. Other member participants are able to view and obtain these completed children’s drama also at copy-rights free. Screening will take place on-site as well.
ABU Children's Drama Co-Production Executive Producer (20th Series Onwards)
Kazuhiro Motoki
Director/Producer – NHK Japan
Kazuhiro Motoki was born in Tokyo in 1967. After graduating from Waseda University in 1990, he joined NHK, Japan’s public broadcaster, and was assigned to the Kyoto Station. Initially working as a local director, Motoki was involved in the planning and production of documentaries and cultural programs.
In 1994, Motoki directed the NHK Special “The Revival of Heian-kyo” which included on-location filming in Hong Kong. Following this, he transferred to the drama department, where he has since directed a wide array of programming, including historical dramas, serial television novels, and contemporary social-issue dramas in Tokyo and Osaka.
Motoki’s work on the drama “Sode Furi Au Mo” earned him the Excellence Award at the 55th Art Festival in the year 2000.
Motoki has extensive experience filming dramas in Asia. In 2010, he directed the drama “Chance,” which included location shooting in Mongolia. His direction of the drama “The Light of Vietnam” in 2018 took him on location to Vietnam. Continuing his work with NHK, in 2023, he directed the 4K special drama “The Symphony of Vietnam,” which also included location shooting in Vietnam.
